Here are four major shopping centres in the North East:
Formerly known as the MetorCentre, Intu MetroCentre has been around since 1986. It is located in Dunston in Gatehead, a former industrial site near the River Tyne. Intu MetroCentre has over stores, and has a total retail area of 2,093,000 square feet. It is the shopping and leisure centre in the United Kingdom
Eldon Square Shopping Centre
Eldon Square Shopping Centre, located in Newcastle upon Tyne, is one of major shopping centres in the North East of England. It was officially opened in 1977, by Queen Elizabeth II. Back then, it one the biggest indoor shopping mall in the whole of Britain. Now, Eldon Square Shopping Centre has 150 stores. It is close by Monument Metro Station.
Dalton Park Outlet
Dalton Park Outlet is a fairly new shopping centre in Murton in County Durham. In was opened in 2003 by Tara Palmer-Tompkinson. It has over 66 stores. Several events are held at Dalton Park Outlet including Father Christmas, firework displays, charity walks, food and craft markets and children’s cartoon character appearances.
Retail World Team Valley
One of the top 20 largest retail centres in the United Kingdom, Retail World Team Valley caters to all of your shopping needs. It is located three miles south of Newcastle, and has name brand retailers including New Look, M&S Simply Food, Smyths Toys, Next, TK Maxx, Mamas & Papas, Mothercare, Next, Boots and Gap Outlet.
